Many Yeo researchers are aware of Jean's excellent website which has been on line for many years. She has an extensive tree for her branch, the descendants of Philip & Margaret Bond who have their roots in Stratton, Cornwall and then, the area around St Cleer, Cornwall. Jean also has many other articles and data of interest to all Yeo researchers, including a page dedicated to Yeo researchers.

New
information on Margaret Bonet, wife of Philip Yeo
From
Faye,
There
seems to be some contradictory information in Philip Yeo's
wife and I hope that you can assist in clarification The
IGI index, citing source film 0916953, says that Philip
Yeo married Margaret Bonet on 4 Jul 1704 Yet when I
borrowed this film, there is a record for the marriage of
Phillip Yeo and Margaret Bond not Bonet on the same
date, 4 Jul 1704 Did you have any further information either
way? Regards Faye Skilbeck
Well
Done Faye, Margaret was indeed a Bond, and baptised in North
Tamerton on the 5th September, 1683, daughter of Richard
Bond & Julian.
Dear
Sheila I am not sure if you are interested in this photo
for your website, but thought that I would send you this
photo of Anna Maria Yeo( 19th July 1848-Aug 1928)
and her husband Thomas Martin ( Jan 1849-Dec 1938).
The photos is not dated but was taken in Cornwall.
I am not sure if you have had time to look at the other
email and query that I have sent you, but understand how
busy you are. I enjoy looking at your site and its regular
updates This family tree business is addictive. The more
recent information is proving elusive but it is fun trying
Regards Faye Skilbeck

From
Gail
Hello
Sheila Have just read your request for new email submissions.
I am Suzanne Yeos(she married John Crago)g grandaughter.
I have written you before so possibly you have mine. Nonetheless
you will have it again.
Hello
I have been digging and occasionally come up with more data.
You may already have it but in the event you do not---Susannah
Yeo married Francis Crago in Duloe March 28 1843.They
had John born 1843,Mary Ann 1845, William T 1847, Charles
1849, Thomas 1853, Francis 1856, Samuel 1858 and Isaac in
1860.Their oldest son John moved to Michigan prior to 2892
as that is when the rest of the family followed him. He
had married a Caroline Beaglehole and I will send the ships
manifest of her and her children. The Samuel in the manifest
is my grandfather. He left Michigan and moved to Ontario
with his wife and children. File under G if you don't require
this and I will never know. Take care. Gail Westergaard.
PS The Wm T Crago left Michigan with his wife as she was
in danger of losing her leg,and returned to England for
good medical care. She lived to be 90.

From:
Brian Hawton To: westaway@one-name.org Sent: Tuesday,
July 03, 2001 7:20 PM (for information only, Brian's
e-mail address is now out of date)
Subject:
YEO surname in Plymouth Greetings from a baking hot Bilthoven,
Holland. I have a YEO connection (my paternal grandmother
was SUSAN YEO) and am wondering if we have any information
we can trade. I rather suspect that you will have more than
me but for what it's worth here goes. Having concentrated
so far on my paternal grandfather's line I thought it about
time to do some preliminary investigation into his wife's
ancestry. What I have so far is: EDWIN PROUSE HAWTON married
SUSAN YEO in Hebburn, Co Durham 6 June 1905 - presumably
Hebburn because he was in the Navy at the time and was stationed
near there? Both were natives of (as am I) or with family
connections to the Plymouth area (Plymouth as it is now
at any rate). According to the censuses I have seen she
was born in Bickleigh - the one near Plymouth I suspect
- in circa 1875. In 1881 the family consisted of father
WILLIAM, a coachman, mother SELENA, and 6 children
aged from 1 to 9 living at Efford Lane, Compton Gifford
(now known as the Laira area of Plymouth) - this from the
CD set. Something I saw once suggested to me that they were
at number 5. William's birthplace was given as Gulval, CON
and Selena seems to have been from St Germans. I rather
suspect that the family moved around a bit within the Plymouth
area as father's employer changed. By 1891 all plus 2 more
children were at 12 Station Road, Plympton St Mary with
the exception of "my" Susan who was somewhere else, by then
about 17 and in service I suspect. Family oral (aural?)
tradition had it that her mother was once in service to
Scott (of the Antarctic fame) but I have not tried to verify
this in any way. Yet the birthplace of one of the children
(1881 census) does say, Outlands, Devon which gives some
credence to the story. Susan's parents were from Cornwall
- father William from Gulval (1881 census) or Duloe (1891
census) and mother Selena from St Germans, born respectively
circa 1840 and 1844 (from census data). The 1851 census
for Cornwall CD has only one William which fits the bill
age-wise and that says he was born St Neot. So your guess
is as good as mine here I imagine. And that's it so far.
I know something of what happened to one or two of her siblings,
but there again so may you. If there is any information
you have which you think may be of use to me I would be
very grateful - it's not that easy from here in Holland
to consult primary sources. If you think I may know something
you want to know I would be more than willing to pass it
on. I have for example somewhere a photograph, undated,
of the coachman and most of his brood. I could (photo)copy
this and send it on if you wish. No scanning facilities
currently I'm afraid! Regards, Brian Hawton Email: brianhawton@wish.net
